Kobbari karam is my all time favorite spice powder. Coconut mixed with garlic and other spices. You just need to have some dry coconut (Copra) pieces. And rest, you can finish in few mins. This is a yummy spice powder that goes well as Idly podi or Dosa podi. Nice replacement when you don’t have the regular Idly podi or Dosa podi. Leaving all this behind.., this Kobbari podi is perfect with hot white rice and ghee.. aww! heaven! 🙂 I have two variations of this Kobbari Podi and here is the first one. Happy cooking!
2 cups chopped dried coconut.
2 tbsp Red chilli powder
2 tsp Jeera / cumin seeds
5 Garlic Pods
Salt to taste
My Method of Making:
1. Place all the ingredients in a suitable mixi jar and make a fine powder of it. In between check the spices once. The spice of red chilli powder varies from kitchen to kitchen. Taste once and adjust red chilli powder and salt.
2. Once done, collect it into a air tight container and store it. It stays good for about 15-20 days. You can also refrigerate it. Enjoy it with Rice+ghee/ Idly / Dosa / Upma..!
